Hi, I’m Dr Ilan Ben-Zion, a Clinical Psychologist.
You can call me Ilan though. That’s Milan without the M. I am a human being first, a psychologist second.
Personally, I feel like our profession isn't accessible enough, and all too often we throw around complicated terms like "psychologist". Now that sounds like a joke, and it sort of is, but when I ask my friends what a psychologist is and does, they often get it wrong.
I believe that we need to make our knowledge more accessible, so that everyone can use it. I write, I video, I share. I am passionate about communicating my understanding of psychology and how it relates to everyday life, so that you can understand it too. I want you to know why you sometimes struggle to sleep at night, and what you can do about it.
I try to communicate in English, not in Psychology. I'm not afraid to challenge the status quo. I feel privileged to be able to share the knowledge others have given me and to have a positive impact on the lives of others through speaking, creating media and working in the NHS and private practice.
So many of us are taught to be someone else, to aspire to the achievements of others or to feel guilty for not being who we are told to be. Why can’t we be ourselves.
My aim is to help you be just that.
